Learn About Dr. Campis

Dr. Campis received her doctorate in clinical psychology (with specialization in clinical child) from the University of Alabama in 1986. She had the privilege of working with experts in the field during her internship  and thirteen  year tenure as a staff psychologist at The Children’s Hospital, Boston and as an Instructor in Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School. She provided supervision and teaching to interns and residents, and clinical services to children and their families. She specialized in coping and resiliency in children and authored several research articles and chapters in the field. Dr. Campis developed and directed the Children's Coping Clinic, a program designed to help children and parents cope with stressful medical experiences and chronic illness. Dr. Campis established a pediatric psychology practice in Lexington, Massachusetts in 1999, with a focus on preschool-age children and parents. She continued to maintain a private adult therapy practice, and teach and consult at the Children's Hospital and maintained her affiliation with Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Campis relocated to Atlanta in 2004 to accept a position at Emory University as a senior staff psychologist with Student Health and Counseling Services. She also specializes in the developmental period of emerging adulthood (18-25 year olds) and is an Adjunct Professor in the Emory University Department of Psychology. Dr. Campis established her private practice in Atlanta in 2017. As both a professional and parent, Dr. Campis appreciates that childhood and young adulthood can be the most exciting, yet challenging times in life. These life phases are rich in significant emotional, physical and social changes which may profoundly affect quality of life for parents and children. Dr. Campis is dedicated to helping parents, children and adults thrive whatever their challenges. Her training as a scientist/practitioner is grounded in a thorough understanding of research and development. She has a special interest in attachment, chronic illness, parent education and women's issues.
